The 3D printing world that was hitherto dominated exclusively by desktop fused deposition modeling (FDM) printers has now seen the advent of resin 3D printing machines that are a whole lot quieter and less fussy than their FDM filament-based counterparts.

For one thing there’s the viscous liquid resin that always oozes smoothly across the resin vat, followed by the quiet hum of a single moving axis as it lowers the build plate, and then after that? Just nothing at all.

There’s no destructive cracking of a nozzle as it tears through the print nor the vibration of the print bed as it adds on layer after layer. Just the gentle whirr of the build plate as it shifts from one layer to another layer.

This is why resin-based DLP printers are now rapidly becoming more and more famous as well as popular. Who Is It Good For?

This is a great printer for anyone who wants a really good quality 3D print without any fuss or bother. Apart from that, it has a reasonably large build pate so you can make all kinds of cosplay stuff as well as parts and components. It is a great printer if you are interested in figurines and even stuff for everyday use.

Due to its low price you can also use it as a learning tool for the young ones, albeit strictly under adult supervision.

Who Is It Not Good For?

It is not good for people who can’t handle the fumes or the risks associated with resin based 3D printers. You will need a lot of ventilation as well as protective gear before you start creating 3D prints on your own.

It is also not the best investment if you want to learn to print professionally, because it is not big enough or fast enough to handle the workload.

Anycubic Photon

The build plate and the resin tub have been constructed from machined aluminum, while the printer’s frame has been made from stamped sheet metal they use to make high quality military grade weapons. In a nutshell, nothing about this resin 3D printer feels shoddy or cheap. It also has a very strong plate.

If you want a really budget model as an introduction to resin 3D printing, it is advisable to refrain from spend this much on such a small printer. Since it is too tiny for any reasonable sized build, you will be hard pressed to use it for anything other than simply hobby stuff.
